The Brewery
A: At Hard Road, the popularity of our beers varies day by day, reflecting the diverse tastes of our visitors and our ever changing range. Our Little Ludwig Lager is consistently a favourite, aligning with the global trend as lager is the most consumed beer style in the world. This beer is known for its deliciously easy drinking character and lower alcohol by volume (ABV), making it an excellent choice for those seeking a lighter option. However, for guests looking for more complexity and bold flavor, our Drongo's Revenge ESB stands out time and again as a top contender. Both beers embody our commitment to quality and craft, and are unfiltered & unpasteurised.
A: At Hard Road, we start with the traditional core ingredients common to all modern beers: water, malted barley, hops, and yeast. However, as a small-scale nano brewery, we also incorporate unique elements such as real fruit, wheat, oats, and even beneficial bacteria like lactobacillus to create distinctive flavors and textures. Unlike larger breweries that need to filter and pasteurise the beer to extend shelf life, and use a lot of extracts and enhancers to maximise profits, our beers emphasise natural, clean ingredients without unnecessary additives, filtration and are unpasteurised. This approach not only highlights the quality of our raw materials but also ensures that each batch reflects our commitment to craftsmanship and authentic, small scale flavour.
A: At Hard Road, our beers are proudly unfiltered and unpasteurised to preserve their rich flavors and authentic character. Because of this, the best way to store our beer is by keeping it consistently cold, ideally refrigerated. Some beers don't need special handling, as they are inherently more stable, like higher ABV beers, stouts, and even fruited beers can improve with age. Cider is also very stable and is perfectly fine at room temperature for years.
A: Craft beer is traditionally defined as beer produced by small, independent breweries that focus on quality, flavor, and brewing artistry rather than mass production.
In recent years however, this definition has shifted, from both the sheer massive scale of some breweries still considered 'craft', and the introduction of faux-craft brands being introduced by large corporations to mimic branding and aesthetics of independent breweries.
At Hard Road, a local nano-scale brewery, we embody the true essence of craft beer by creating unique, small-batch brews using carefully selected ingredients and traditional brewing methods. We like to focus on the word 'independent', which better describes the innovative nature of true craft beer, focussed on community and quality.
A: Yes, at Hard Road, we craft every batch of beer right here in our nano-scale brewery. From brewing to packaging, all processes are handled on-site to ensure the highest quality and freshness. This local approach allows us to maintain close control over flavor and consistency while offering visitors an authentic experience during tastings, tours, and group visits. Our fully integrated operation reflects our commitment to craftsmanship and supports our community-focused ethos.
A: Yes, Hard Road is thrilled to support the local brewing community by filling kegs for homebrewers and home bar enthusiasts.
